Match ReportsPosted by Tim Brocklebank Wed, November 18, 2009 10:39:20Apologies match report out of sequence !
We arrived at Liskeard to a very cold and very windy day. However, everyone got stuck straight into training.
One member of the opposition turned up so it looked like we would be mixing up with the U10's....so we headed inside for a warm up in the club house...
We emerged to find the oppposition had grown to 8 so the match ensued.
A great match full of tackles, tries and really good mauling....the match was drawn up to the dying minutes but Liskeard managed to score just as the whistle went.
Everyone was awarded a Mars Bar for the great tackiling and Roan was man of the match for some super tries.
Well done all and thank you to those supporters who braved the weather !!!!

Match ReportsPosted by Tim Brocklebank Wed, November 18, 2009 10:33:10A lovely morning in the sunshine we gathered at the top pitch at Lankelly Fowey. Our head coach was away but with the help of Rob and Jon the team got down to some good training and tackle practice.
The match began in earnest and we found ourselves up against a large and efficient team. The boys tried really hard but size won the day and Lankelly Fowey managed to put some 8 tries past our boys.
In the second half we mixed in some U10 Truro support and the game was more balanced though we marginally lost the second half.
Guy had a particularly good match and won " man of the match " with some great tackling and generally getting stuck in...he also scored a try but it was disallowed for an earlier infringement. Ben Norton's tackle on "The big guy" was rewarded with the tackle award ( a mars bar ).
Great effort by all involved. Another tough match next week against Penzance but the team are progressing well and still having fun...which is the most important thing of all !

Match ReportsPosted by Tim Brocklebank Sat, October 24, 2009 10:28:58Squad this week was :
Ollie, Ben,Cameron,Roan,Abu,Thomas,Kyran, Michael and very kindly Ollie from the U10 squad came to help us.
Match 1 vs Cambourne
This was going to be a tough match but the team did very well and tackled everything that moved. Cambourne took the ball at pace and managed to break through our defense. By the end of the first half we were 5 tries down, however, in the second half we came back strongly and Roan scored twice. Cambourne did score another 4 tries so we ended the match 9 to 2.
Match 2 vs Helston
This was a much tighter match and throughout the game we were swapping tries. In the middle of the second half we showed our resolve and scored twice. We won the game 9 : 8.....a close call.
A big thank you to everyone who supported the team. Another thank you to Jim and John for our early gardening session !
Our best wishes go to Guy Crofton who was not well enough to come this week. Hope you are better for training next week !

Match ReportsPosted by Tim Brocklebank Sat, October 10, 2009 10:18:44This was our first contact match ever !
A really super start from all players, everybody got stuck in and we saw some lovely runs to the line.
Although we lost 10 tries to 5 it was very close in the first half but Newquay just managed to pull away towards the end of the second period.
Thomas Lean ( man of the match ) was captain and scored two darting tries. Ollie B, Roan, Cameron and Ben Norton scored one a piece.
The first half forwards were Thomas, Roan and Guy followed by the second half team of Ben, Cameron and Ollie B... everyone did really well at their first scrums/lineouts/mauls and rucks.
The squad this week was Ben Lamb, Kyran, Ollie, Abu, Thomas, Guy, Michael, Roan, Cameron and Ben Norton.
Thanks to James Kincaid who supported but was injured.
Top class referee was Rob Kincaid and great coaching from Jim Richardson.
Well done all !
